Troubleshooting The vast preponderance of questions and complaints from our customers turn out to be problems with source files or codecs. Hard as it may be to accept, given the state of the art, there is simply no practical way for Fx Joiner to determine if a problem exists in a source file or codec without actually going through the process. Consequently corrupt data or codec errors can often produce unpredictable results. If you experience problems, the logical process is to first determine if the source file (or codec) is at fault. To do that test with a sample movie that is known to be good. If the sample works you know that your computer, Windows, DirectX and Fx Movie Joiner are all doing their jobs. For this purpose we have posted several sample movies to our web site: http://www.jhepple.com/support/sample_movies1.htm Start with the MPEG-1 samples so that there's no possibility of an AVI codec causing the problem. If the MPEG-1 samples work try a file as the same type that fails. If that works the cause is likely to be the codec. Some codec manufacturers distribute free playback only versions of of their codecs but you must buy another version to decode for editing.
